Our Founder

Astor International School was founded by Ms. Elena Holloway. Elena is an entrepreneur with over 15 years of experience in business and 20 in finance. She has a Master's degree in Finance, a Bachelor's degree in Economics, and a Bachelor of Arts in International Business.

 

Elena, a mother of three children, has always been passionate about learning and education. When her eldest daughter was due to start school, Elena became dismayed at the cost and the inflexibility of the choices available to her in Singapore. So she took it upon herself to create a new option for international primary school parents. The result is Astor International School, now in its sixth year of operation. Her daughter graduated from the school at the end of Academic Year 2023-24.

Elena says:

 

"As parents, we all want to nurture and empower our children, and to grow them to be life-long learners. We want to cultivate a sense of community in our children, with a healthy environment for learning.

 

A shorter school day enables children to explore thinking and learning through intentional programmes. Flexibility and affordability are important to us.

 

Keeping our school small, we are open to listen to every parent and to meet every child’s needs in terms of learning as well as scheduling.

We are immensely proud of our teachers, our students, programmes and the driving philosophy behind Astor."

 

In 2023 and 2024 Elena was twice awarded the prestigious Singapore Entrepreneur 100 Award for her outstanding achievement in the course of business.
