Best Affordable International School In Singapore

Awards aren’t the reason we exist. But they are nice when they come!
At Astor International School our ambition has always been to be the best and most affordable international school in Singapore. Now, a slew of recent awards tells us that we are on track with this goal. Astor International School is proud and grateful to have been recognised for its success in these areas through three separate educational award categories in Singapore.
WhichSchoolAdvisor is Singapore’s pre-eminent Schools guide with independent reviews, fees and admissions information about the best international schools in Singapore.
Astor International School was one of only two international schools in Singapore to be “highly commended” in the WhichSchoolAdvisor 2024 Best Schools Award for fees below $30,000.
Judges in this category highlighted the school's flexible schooling options, its affordability, the ability for parents to choose specialist subjects and enrichment classes, the low teacher-student ratio and Astor’s personalised learning experience as reasons for its success.
This award placed Astor International School in rare company. Both the winner of the award and the other highly commended school are much larger and more established than Astor, which is a testament to the school’s rapid growth and the strength of its management.
2. HoneyKids Asia: 2023 and 2024 Singapore Education Awards
HoneyKids Asia is a parenting and lifestyle platform that supports families in Singapore with a range of family-useful information, such as guides on restaurants, activities and schools.
Astor International School has now gained two different awards from HoneyKids Asia.
First: Astor’s school Principal, Shannon de Winnaar, received the gold award for Principal of the Year – Primary in both 2023 and 2024. Based on the votes of school parents, this award recognises excellence in school leadership.
Second: Astor International School gained the Silver award for most affordable international school in the Singapore Education Awards 2024. This award celebrates the outstanding achievements, efforts and contributions of Singapore’s best international schools and enrichment centres, based on the assessments of a panel of expert judges, in the critical area of affordability.
These two awards demonstrate that excellence in affordable international primary education in Singapore is possible. In Astor’s case, the experiential, enquiry-based approach to learning espoused by Shannon and her team has combined powerfully with the school’s careful curation of resources, school hours and flexible payment structures to deliver simplicity and transparency in pricing, a nurturing, community-based feel and premium education at a reasonable cost.
In April 2025, Astor International School was awarded the Singapore SME 500 Award, 2025.
The Singapore SME 500 Award is an annual business award that recognises Singapore's SMEs for their business excellence, quality and capabilities. It is one of Singapore's longest-running accolades that ranks local enterprises on the basis of stringent assessment methodologies and selection processes.
